A black counting circuit 2 inputs the dot data A and the effective signal B to count the number of the black picture elements in the one dot and outputs the total number D of the black elements in the one dot. A dot pattern generating circuit 4 inputs the total number D of the black picture elements, and address information E from an address generating circuit 3 to generate the dot pattern F and output.
