A compact plain paper copier has a photoreceptor belt arranged around a large diameter roller 42 and a small diameter roller 44 to assume a teardrop shape. Charging station 32, exposing station 35 and developing station 36 are associated with the larger roller whilst pressure fixing rollers 54 are disposed adjacent the smaller roller to operate on copy sheets separated from the belt after the toner image is transferred at station 50. The exposing station 35 includes a reciprocating carriage 12 for the original document.
