PURPOSE:To prevent a meandering and constriction of the stripes formed in the inner surface of a panel, by specifying the form of the outer and inner surfaces of a negative meniscus lens, where the light of a long light source is radiated and exposed to the inner surface of the panel through a transmission hole of a shadow mask. CONSTITUTION:The light of a long light source 3 is radiated to the inner surface of a panel through a meniscus lens 22, a landing correction lens, and a light distribution correcting filter, and through a slot form transmission hole of a shadow mask, to form a stripe form phosphor layer. In this case, where the center axis of the lens 22 is Z, the longitudinal axis of the long light source 3 is Y, and the lateral axis of the long light source is X, the curvature of the crossing line of the center surface of the lens 22, and, the YZ plane and YZ parallel plane is made smaller around the top 23 and larger at the periphery. At the same time, the curvature of the inner surface of the lens 22 and those planes is also made smaller at the periphery than at the top 23. Therefore, the meandering or constriction of the stripes inside the panel can be corrected very efficiently.
