PURPOSE:To remove Na salts from polyphenylene sulfide at a low cost, by mixing Na salt-containing polyphenylene sulfide with water and a surfactant and heating the mixture. CONSTITUTION:40wt% or below polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) of a Na salt content of 1,000-5,000ppm is immersed in an aqueous solution containing 0.01-10wt% surfactant (e.g., polyoxyethyelene alkylphenyl ether) capable of precipitating 0.5g of PPS within 5min when it is in the form of an aqueous solution of a concentration of 0.5wt%, heating the mixture at 80 deg.C or above for 5-60min, repeating this procedure once to six times, washing the polymer with water and drying it. |
