PURPOSE:To attain a high speed back track processing by providing a word dictionary, a grammatical dictionary, a partial tree stack storing the partial tree information formed from the dictionaries until at least a sentence during the translation is finished and a syntactic means analysis which analyzes syntactically the sentence while using the said stack. CONSTITUTION:The partial free information formed by using dictionaries 31, 32 is stored in the partial tree stack 33 until at least a sentence during the translation is finished. A syntactic analysis means 34 uses the dictionaries 31, 32 to form a syntax tree from a sentence to be translated (in this case, an English sentence) stored in an input buffer 35. An output buffer 36 stores a completed syntactic analysis tree. A goal stack 37 shows it dynamically at what a partial tree is to be aimed. The syntactic analysis means (Parser) 34 is divided into a syntactic analysis start section (Parse) 38, a partial tree forming section (MK Tree) and a goal storage section (Memo GOAL).
