PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a paste processing by displaying a rectangular frame having the same size as that of an image inserting rectangular area to a designated position for an image data so as to allow the user to recognize the size of the image to be segmented. CONSTITUTION:A block tentative frame control section 13, according to a command from an instruction execution control section 11, writes longitudinal and lateral dot number of an insertion rectangular area into a size memory 19, obtains a rectangular frame surrounding the image data depending on the information stored in the size memory 19 and segmentation position information of the image data, synthesizes the result with a content in an image buffer 17 at an edition buffer 15 and displays the result onto a CRT monitor 9. An image segmentation control section 12, according to a command from the instruction execution control section 11, writes the image in the rectangular frame among image data stored in the image buffer 17 and writes the result to a clip board 18. A paste control section 14 writes the image data stored in the clip board 18 into the insertion rectangular area in a generated document stored in a document buffer 16 by means of an edition buffer 15 according to the command from the instruction execution control section 11.
