PURPOSE:To enable the detection of a disconnection online, by making an optical fiber conductive to provide a power application means for applying power at one point of a disconnection detecting section while a detection means for detecting this power applied state at the other point thereof. CONSTITUTION:A conducting optical fiber 5 is formed by applying a coating 3 of a conductive substance such as Al on an ordinary optical fiber having a core 1 and a clad 2. When a disconnection of this conductive optical fiber 5 occurs at a specified space l, a potentiometer 7 of a power source 6 is turned OFF from ON-state and this enables the detection of a disconnection. |
