PURPOSE:To decrease internal resistance, to make high rate discharge possible, and retain discharge performance in a high level even after long time storage by forming a sheet with a mixture of catalyst supporting activated carbon powder and catalyst nonsupporting activated carbon powder on the surface of each of which a water repellent substance is partially melt-bonded. CONSTITUTION:A sheet is formed with a mixture of catalyst supporting activated carbon and catalyst nonsupporting activated carbon on the surface of each of which a water repellent substance is partially melt-bonded. The mixture is obtained by mixing both activated carbon powder in a specified ratio. As the catalyst in a gas diffusion electrode for air cell, a metal chelate compound such as cobalt phthalocyanine and iron phthalocyanine can be used. As the water repellent material, fluorine resin such as PTFE and a copolymer of polytetrafluoroethyelne-hexafluoropropylene can be used. |
