A conveying device for rotating sheet stacks (4) of paper or the like is described, which are moved along a turning zone. The turning zone is formed by a turning conveyor (2) which consists of conveying means (9, 11a to 11c) which run adjacent to one another in two conveyor paths (12a, 12b) and are drivable at different velocities. One of the two conveyor paths (12a) has a circulating conveying means (9) which is drivable at a first velocity v1. In the second conveyor path (12b) there are arranged, one behind the other in the conveying direction, at least two circulating conveying means (11a, 11b, 11c) which are drivable at different velocities (v2, v3, v4) from the conveying means of the first conveyor path. For precise alignment of the rotated sheet stack even during the rotation operation, the angular position of the sheet stack can be registered by position detectors (18, 19), and the velocities of the conveying means (11b, 11c) of the second conveyor path (12b) are controllable as a function of the instantaneous angular position of the sheet stack (4). <IMAGE>
