The present burner for the partial combustion of a liquid fuel has a central burner lance with an outlet-side nozzle (4) for atomising the fuel. The burner lance is surrounded by an annular gap serving for the supply of oxygen-containing gas and if appropriate water vapour. For the purpose of avoiding high-temperature corrosion on the hard metal nozzle (4) by stress-caused crack formation and tearing open of the solder connection between hard metal nozzle (4) and lance body with resulting penetration of liquid fuel and combustion of the fuel already at the nozzle (4), the nozzle (4), which consists of a wear-resistant material such as tungsten or silicon carbide, has a conically shaped bearing surface against the correspondingly designed part (2) of the burner lance, the thermal expansion coefficient of the part not differing from the thermal expansion coefficient of the nozzle material by more than 15%. <IMAGE>
