Known methods for reading out a sound sequence contained in a memory under control of a trigger exhibit the disadvantage that in the case of trigger pulses following one another rapidly, the sound sequence can be read out only partially from the memory before a new trigger pulse is present. Percussion instruments with such electronics sound unnatural. It is proposed to read out the memory alternately with corresponding offset in dependence on the successive trigger pulses without terminating the respective trigger cycle for a new trigger cycle.
