PURPOSE:To effectively utilize a GTO by providing a discharging circuit with a diode and a resistor in parallel with an anode reactor, and suppressing the overcharge of a snubber capacitor at turn-OFF time. CONSTITUTION:Feedback diodes D11-D22 and snubber circuits DS11-DS22, CS11-CS22, RS11-RS22 are connected in anti-parallel with GTO thyristors G11-G12 of an inverter. In this case, a discharging circuit of anode reactor storage energy made of diodes D111-D221 and discharging resistors R11-R22 is provided in parallel with anode reactors l11-l22 connected in series with the thyristors G11-G22. Thus, the energy stored in the reactors l11-l22 when the thyristors G11-G22 are turned-OFF is consumed at the resistors R11-R22. As a result, it can prevent the capacitors CS11-CS22 from overcharging, and reduce an unbalanced current at switching time.
