A method for producing electrical film capacitors, in the case of which method an original capacitor having a plurality of large diameter mother capacitor rings which are wound one above the other is wound from one or more capacitor foils and a film stack (which consists of at least one inner covering foil, at least one outer covering foil and a separating strip located between the covering foils) is wound in between the respectively successive mother capacitor rings, without cutting the capacitor foils. In order to improve the robustness of the completed original capacitor for its further processing, according to the invention, the film stack is wound in such that its end sections have a significant overlap.
