PURPOSE:To obtain a bit map image with different resolution as required by dividing an image data into some blocks and arranging the data in a way that each block has equal information quality as to the entire image data. CONSTITUTION:The image data of original picture information into small areas each comprising 8X8 dots, a data 1 of the upper left corner is extracted from each small area to form small data blocks of the image data, then the 4th data 2 from the right side and the lower side respectively is extracted to from the 2nd small data block. Further, the data is extracted in the order shown in numbers in figure to form 64 small data blocks, which are recorded sequentially onto an optical disc. In reproducing the 1st small data block and arranging each data to the left upper corner of each small area, a reproduced picture whose resolution is 1/64 is obtained, and up to the 8th small data block is reproduced and in arranging the blocks to the positions of 1-8, a data whose resolution is 1/8 is obtained.
