Closable inspection opening for a coaxial double pipe of a gas water heater, which consists of a fresh-air supply pipe and internal waste-gas discharge pipe and coverable aligned openings in both pipes. One opening (20) in the inner pipe (10) is covered by a clip (19) and the opening (14) in the outer pipe (12) is covered by a further clip (13), the clips, after loosening of the clamping means (18), being displaceably mounted on the associated pipes and the clamp (23) of the inner clip (19) being accessible through the opening (14) in the outer pipe (12) (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
