The invention relates to a feed device for cooling beds in steel-bar and section rolling mills for the transporting, braking and transfer of both thin and thick rolled stock with their different approach speeds. The aim of the invention is to reduce downtimes, especially when rolling thin and unstable rolled stock approaching at high speed while at the same time keeping the mass of equipment in the approach, braking and transfer system for thin and thick rolled stock to a minimum. The object of providing a feed device which makes it possible to transport, brake and transfer to a downstream cooling bed not only thick rolled stock but also thin rolled stock in a reliable manner, without a breakdown and with a small amount of equipment, is achieved by virtue of the fact that the feed device, in the form of two tracks, is equipped with specially designed lifting slides. The lifting slides each have a small semicircular guide channel for thin rolled stock in the upper region and a large U-shaped approach channel for thick rolled stock in the lower region.
