The invention relates to a roll stand with axially displaceable work rolls or intermediate rolls and hydraulic cylinders, provided in housing blocks for the purpose of balancing and roll bending, which act on the chocks of the work rolls. In order to provide a combined roll-balancing and bending cylinder for a roll stand of the generic type by means of which it is possible in a simple and functional manner to compensate for shifts in weight and forces during the displacement of the work rolls with their chocks, it is proposed that the hydraulic cylinders be designed as constant-speed cylinders with a controlled piston rod (7), the working cylinders of which (A, B, A1, B1) can be subjected to pressure to balance the work rolls and apply the required bending force and the cylinder chambers (D, C, F, E, C1, D1, E1, F1) of which, which are arranged coaxially, can additionally be subjected to pressure diagonally as a function of the change in the distribution of weight and forces during the axial displacement of the work rolls. <IMAGE>
