PURPOSE:To effectively detect the malfunction of an electromagnetic brake by directly detecting whether an exciting current necessary to release the brake flows to the brake or not. CONSTITUTION:The exciting current of an electromagnetic brake is detected by a brake current detector 15, and converted to a voltage and output. A reference voltage generator 18 generates a reference voltage corresponding to a normal brake release exciting current. The detected voltage from the detector 15 is compared by a comparator 17 with a reference voltage from the generator 18, and a brake current normally confirming relay 19 is operated by the output of the comparator 17.
