PURPOSE:To confine an extent of extending water and steam to one section of a dam part of the titled cable, even if in case of leaking water into a sheath due to damage to the sheath by providing the air tight dams along the length of the titled cable over the whole length of the cable at every specific interval. CONSTITUTION:The air tight dam parts 20 are provided at every interval of 30cm-30m along the length of the cable over the whole length of the titled cable. The dam part must prevent not only water but also steam. The material of the dam parts 20 is composed of a material such as a thermosetting silicone gum or urethane gum mixed with a drying agent such as silica gel therein. If a hole is made in the sheath 8, thereby entering water into the sheath through the hole, the material absorbing water such as the layer 14 composed of water absorbing material absorbs said water and swells, thereby stopping the submerged part 24 to a narrow range. The steam diffuses in the whole section divided with the dam part 20, but does not reach beyond the dam 20. |
