Uniformly coated electrical components

An electrical component 10 is coated by first spraying it with a silicone-modified epoxy then blowing milled glass-fibres onto the coating using a flocking gun 21. The component 10 is then air dried and excess fibres are removed with an air jet. After oven drying, the component 10 is dipped into the epoxy and withdrawn slowly. The component is again blown with fibres and dried followed by another dipping process and oven drying at higher temperature. The layer of fibrous material retards the flow of the resin so as to improve the uniformity of coating thickness, particularly over the corners and edges of the component.
