A polymer modified unsatd. polyester or polyesteramide resin prepd. by reacting under polymsn. conditions: (A) one or more alpha-, beta-ethylenically unsatd. polycarboxylic acids, anhydrides or mixts. with or without one or more satd. or aromatic polycarboxylic acids or anhydrides; (B) an effective amt. of water; (C) one or more polyols, or a mixt. of polyols and polyamines; and (D) a hydrocarbon mixt. that comprises (i) esterifiable hydrocarbons, (ii) ethylenically unsatd. aromatic hydrocarbons with or without polymerised derivs. and opt. (ii) non-reactive hydrocarbons. The curable polymer concrete compsn. comprises: (1) 2-20 wt.% of the polymer modified unsatd. polyester or polyesteramide resin; and (2) 98-80 wt.% of an aggregate. Claimed use of (B) in an amt. of 1.1-2.0 moles/mole of unsatd. polycarboxylic acid or anhydride; (D) as a mixt. that comprises 25-95 pts. wt. of (i), 5-50 pts. wt. of (ii) and the balance of (iii), used in an amt. to provide 0.25-1.0 moles of esterifiable hydrocarbons/ mole of unsatd. oplycarboxylic acid or anhydride; and aggregate as sand, gravel, crushed stone or rock, silica flour, fly ash and mixts. opt. contg. up to 50 wt.% of metla fines, glass fibres, synthetic fibres, glass reinforcing mats, glass strands, glass filaments, metal turnings, metal fibres, mineral powders or mixts.
