The start-up period of a Fisher-Tropsch process reactor is substantially reduced by introducing the feed at a rate from 30 to 100% of total flow-rate at the lined-out conditions, the hydrogen rate being from 15 to 90% of the hydrogen rate at lined-out operation and the mol ratio H2/CO not exceeding 90% of the mol ratio at lined-out conditions, raising the pressure or the pressure and temperature until either the spacetime-yield of products corresponds with the lined-out yield or the pressure and temperature are those at lined-out conditions, and then increasing the mol ratio of H2/CO to that employed at lined-out conditions.
|
