An improved paper-making machine fabric for use in paper, cellulose and equivalent machinery, which fabric comprises a first layer of yarn 2,4,6,8,10,12 and 14 lying in the machine's transverse direction, intended, during use of the fabric, to be in contact with the material being formed, and a second layer of yarn 1,3,5,7,9,11,13 and 15 lying in the machine's transverse direction and well below the first layer in the machine's transverse direction, this second layer to be in contact with the machine's drive rolls during its operation, and also yarn 17-32 which lies in the machine direction which is intertwined with the transverse-lying yarns, in order to produce a fibre support with alternating 6- and 8-run cycles. The transverse-lying yarn on the machine side has a 14-run cycle, ensuring a high yarn volume to counteract wear in the machine's transverse direction, before the loaded yarn lying in the machine direction is subjected to wear. The yarns lying in the machine direction are woven together so that two adjacent longitudinal yarns run directly beneath the machine-side transverse yarn during the paper-side 6-run cycle, thus assuring protection of the longitudinal yarn and a longer working life. <IMAGE>
