A floor door spring unit comprises two cams 15, 16 mounted on a stub shaft (13), Fig. 1 (not shown) supported vertically in an oil filled casing (11), a horizontally slidable cradle 22 having rollers 34 urged against the first cam 15 by two spring pairs 29 bearing against the casing (11), and a piston 40 urged against the second cam 16 by a spring (not shown) in a hydraulic cylinder 41, anti-friction bearings being provided for the stub shaft (13), cradle 22 and rollers 34. The stub shaft (13) is supported in a ball thrust bearing (17) and a needle roller bearing (19), the cradle 22 is supported by linear roller races 24 bearing on casing plates 25, and the rollers 34 are supported on pins (35) by needle roller bearing races 36. Two resilient fluid seals (50) are retained in a tube (20) of a plate (21), and an outer seal (49) is formed by a secondary cover 48. An oil filler opening is closed by a plug 45 screwed through the cover 48 into the primary cover (46), and a leak reservoir (47) is formed over the casing. Each spring pair 29 comprises coaxial springs, the outer spring bearing on a collar 33 which is screwed on a shaft 30 against which the inner spring bears. |
