PURPOSE:To reduce equipping cost for molten steel heating by using arc heating apparatus through electrode arranged separately so as not to need heating apparatus for each tundish, at heating the molten steel in the tundish before continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel 12 in a ladle 13 is supplied into the tundish 11 through a nozzle 14 and further supplied into a continuous casting submerged nozzle 15 at the tundish bottom. When temp. of the molten steel 12 in the tundish 11 is needed to raise up before continuous casting, the electrode 19 installed to the molten steel heating apparatus 30 is inserted in the tundish 11 from an electrode inserting hole 20 arranged in a cover 17 of the tundish 11, to generate arc 21 between the molten steel 12 surface and heat up the molten steel 12 to needed temp. As the molten steel heating apparatus for each tundish is not necessary, and the molten steels 12 in the plural tundishes are heated by a few molten steel heating apparatuses, the equipping cost of the molten steel heating apparatus is reduced. |
