PURPOSE:To attain image formation free from color mixture by executing electrostatic recharging so that a photosensitive body electrostatically charged in a toner image forming process of one color is uniformly electrified at a potential level higher than a surface potential level held on the succeeding recharging position. CONSTITUTION:An image consisting of plural colors can be obtained by forming toner images having plural colors on the photosensitive body and transferring the formed toner images to a transfer material only by one transfer. In the toner image forming process of one color, the surface potential of the developed photosensitive body is reelectrified by a scorotron charger. At that time, 6KV voltage is impressed to a charge wire 160 of the charger, its shielding plate 159 is earthed and 1,300V is impressed to its glid 162. The voltages of the 1st image part and other parts after reelectrification are about 1,120-1,180V. Thus, the photosensitive body can be uniformly reelectrified and image formation free from color mixture can be attained.
