NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic substance planothiocin A or B. USE:An antibiotic substance, administered to domestic animals, domestic fowls, fishes and shellfishes and used for antimicrobial treatment or prevention and capable of exhibiting growth promoting effect on domestic animals, domestic fowls, fishes and shellfishes and particularly improving spawning effect in the case of fishes and shellfishes. PREPARATION:Actinoplanes sp. A12526 (FERM-R No.5063) is cultivated in a culture medium containing a carbon source, e.g. glucose or starch, and nitro gen source, e.g. corn or soybean flour, as a nutrient source thereof at 25-30 deg.C to afford the aimed anitibiotic substance planothiocin A or B. |
