CONSTITUTION:When a table 3 having a workpiece 5 fixed is shifted in the Y direction, and a dog 11 pushes a limit switch 12, a motor 3 shifts a saddle 2 step by according to the feed quantity set on a setting device 23, and grinding work is carried out by the lowering of a grindstone 8. When a spindled head 7 lowers to the set position in a setting circuit 26, the spindle head 7 is brought into stop by the signal supplied from a comparator 17, and the spark-out grinding is started. At the same time, a counter 18 counts the number of times of operation of a limit switch 14, and when said value reaches the value in a setting circuit 19, a switching circuit 21 performs the switching of the setting device from 23 to 22 by the operation of the switch 12 according to the signal of a comparator 20, and the saddle 2 is shifted step by step. Thus, the mirror surface grinding with high quality can be carried out efficiently.
