PURPOSE:To stably separate a sheet material, by integrally forming an elastic part in the main unit of a separating pawl to be pressed to a supporting member of the separating pawl and forcing a pawl part of the separating pawl to touch a point end of the sheet material by restoring force of the elastic part. CONSTITUTION:A sheet material feeder 20 is equipped with a chassis 3, connecting in a line with a sheet support 2, and a paper feed roller 6. While the feeder 20 provides a sheet guide 7, serving also as a cover, in the upper of the chassis 3 further a separating pawl 21 inside the guide 7. In the above constitution, the whole unit of the separating pawl 21 is formed by an elastic material of plastic or the like, further the pawl 21 respectively integrally forms a tongue-shaped piece 21x in an upper part of the main unit while a pawl part 21b in one side end 21a. And the separating pawl 21 swivelably supports the other side end 21c to the guide 7 by a pin 12 while presses the tongue-shaped piece 21x to a protrusive part 7c of the guide 7. In this way, separating performance of a sheet material S can be improved by simplified further low-priced constitution.
