This system consists in particular of joining elements made of parallelepipedal bars 7 with a series of recesses 7a on each long side, and of panels 8, 9, 10, 11 arranged to be inserted side by side with each end 8a, 9a, 10a, 11a into the recesses 7a of one and the same bar. Each panel 8, 9, 10, 11 has, at each end, a narrowed area which forms a pin 8a, 9a, 10a, 11a, the dimensions of which are adapted to the dimensions of each recess 7a in the bar 7. The system also includes corner elements 17 and support elements 13. Assembly is made simple and straightforward by the pins being inserted into the recesses. Any type of furniture can be constructed using this system and can be extended upwards, downwards, to the sides or at right angles. Application to assembly of furniture. <IMAGE>
