PURPOSE:The titled drug, containing an organic acid and glycol in a nonsteroidal compound in the form of a salt capable of exhibiting anti-inflammatory and analgesic action and having enhanced percutaneous absorbability of the principal ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A drug for external use obtained by blending an organic acid, e.g. citric acid, and a glycol, e.g. propylene glycol, in a nonsteroidal compound in the form of a salt having anti-inflammatory and analgesic action, e.g. diclofenac sodium. Since the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and anagesic drug causes problems of side effect, e.g. gastrointestinal disorder, etc., for oral administration, a method for administering as a drug for external use is expected. The skin of the human body, however, has barrier function and particularly exhibits powerful barrier function against a drug in the form of a salt in the above-mentioned anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug. The coexistence of the organic acid and glycol enhances the solubility of the above-mentioned compound in the form of the salt in a base ingredient and further ready permeation in a keratinous layer having the barrier function.
