PURPOSE:To facilitate the automatic assembly of a battery, by putting a battery cover on a rotating jig, and bringing the divided tip of a nozzle unit into contact with the peripheral edge portion of the rotating cover to apply a sealing agent to the obverse and reverse sides of the peripheral edge portion of the lid at the same time. CONSTITUTION:When an index table 3 is in a first position, a battery cover a is positioned by vacuum suction on a jig 4 secured to a rotary shaft 8. When the index table 3 is in a second position, a cylinder 5 is moved up to rotate the lid a by a motor 6 through the action of a friction plate 7 and the rotary shaft 8 and a nozzle unit 13 whose tip for feeding a sealing agent through a tube 18 is divided is moved forth by a cylinder 14 to bring the divided tip of the nozzle unit into contact with the peripheral edge portion of the lid to apply the sealing agent to the obverse and reverse sides of the peripheral edge portion of the lid at the same time. After the index table 3 is put in a third position, the battery lid a is sent to an assembly process. The application of the sealing agent is thus automated to enhance productivity. |
