PURPOSE:To keep high permeation of a liq. without uselessly increasing the consumption of power by reciprocating a flat membrane module in a pressure vessel, and increasing the flow velocity over the whole surface of the membrane without increasing the flow velocity of the raw liq. CONSTITUTION:The separation membrane is stuck on both surfaces of a porous liq. collecting plate to obtain a unit module 2a. Plural unit modules are integrally assembled by a connecting rod 2b to obtain the flat membrane module 2. The module 2 is set in the pressure vessel 1 and made to reciprocate by a beam7 pierced through the opposite surfaces of the vessel 2 and extending in the horizontal direction. The pressurized raw liq. is introduced into the pressure vessel 1 from an inlet 5, a driving gear 9 is driven to reciprocate the beam 7, hence the flat membrane module 2 is reciprocated in the direction of the membrane surface, the membrane surface of each unit module 2a is uniformly moved to increase the flow velocity over the whole surface of the separation membrane, and the liq. permeation can be kept at a high value.
