PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of wrinkle and stain by controlling the transferring speed of paper and others in a device which is connected to an image forming device and sorting/accumulating paper or the like to be discharged, according to the speed of paper or the like to be discharged from the image forming device. CONSTITUTION:When sheet P is transferred from an image forming device 2 such as copying machine or the like and its tip reaches discharging rollers 3 rotating at Vc with its circumferential speed, the first sheet sensor 1 is turned on and a signal is transmitted to the controller 9 of a paper or the like sorting/ accumulating device 1 (sorter). The controller 9 turns on a motor 6 and drives rollers 4, 6 by means of belts 6a, 6b. When sheet P advances and reaches rollers 5, the second sheet sensor is turned on. The speed of sheet P is judged by the difference between the time the first sheet sensor is turned on and that the second one is turned on. The speed of sheet P is set a little faster than that discharged from the image forming device 2. And when the sheet sensor is kept turned on more than the specified time, it is judged 'jam' and the whole device is stopped.
