PURPOSE:To enable a strong engine braking force to be obtained at the high speed side by carrying out speed control on the basis of a transmission map having predetermined shift-down and shift-up lines, depending upon the targets of throttle opening and car speed. CONSTITUTION:When a changeover is made from a primary transmission map to a secondary transmission map, a throttle opening theta as a primary target and car speed V as a secondary target are detected as existing between the secondary shift-down line B2 of the secondary transmission map and the secondary shift-up line A2 thereof. Corresponding thereto, a low speed stage is established independent of the secondary transmission map. Thereafter, transmission control is carried out on the basis of the secondary transmission map. Also, when a changeover is made from the primary transmission map to the secondary transmission map, the primary and the secondary targets theta and V are detected as existing between the secondary shift-down line B2 of the secondary transmission map and the secondary shift-up line A2 thereof and the primary target theta is detected as less than a set value. Corresponding thereto, a low speed stage is established independent of the secondary transmission map and thereafter transmission control is carried out. |
