The present invention relates to a girder-type shell for a cycle replacing a conventional tube frame. This girder-type shell is produced from sheet metal or any other material capable of being folded, to which the necessary devices for assembling the wheels, saddle and drive means are attached. The assembly may be produced either by welding, riveting, screwing, bonding or clipping. The structure may be filled with a material allowing the rigidity to be further increased and in the case of the use of an expandable foam of the polyurethane foam type may make the assembly unsinkable without having to produce perfect leaktightness. The invention has the same fields of application as a conventional tubular frame with the preferential intention for all-terrain so-called <<cross-country racing>> or <<cyclo-cross>> bicycles.
