PURPOSE:To efficiently strip scale from an Ni-Ti alloy by the pressure of gaseous oxygen generated on the alloy by supplying electric current with the alloy as the anode in a soln. of a salt or alkali electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:An Ni-Ti alloy 12 having formed scale 10 is immersed in a soln. of a salt or alkali electrolyte and electric current is supplied with the alloy 12 as the anode to generate gaseous oxygen 16 on the interface 14 between the scale 10 and the alloy 12. The scale 10 is cracked by the pressure of the oxygen 16, stripped and removed.
