PURPOSE:To obtain the titled austenitic alloy excellent in corrosion resistance and strength, and consequently excellent in stress corrosion cracking resistance as well, by applying ageing treatment to a ferrous alloy containing C, Si, Mn, P, S, Cu, Ni, Cr, Mo, Be, and N each by prescribed quantity. CONSTITUTION:The ferrous alloy containing, by weight <=0.03% C, <=30% Si, <=4.0% Mn, <=0.020% P, <=0.02% S, 1-6% Cu, 20-45% Ni, 20-40% Cr, 3-6% Mo, 0.05-1.0% Be, and 0.05-0.30% N is subjected to ageing treatment, so that the desired precipitation hardening austenitic alloy can be obtained. This alloy is suitable for use as material for, e.g., bolts, clamps, etc., to which stress is applied under a corrosive environment of sea water, chemicals, etc., it has above-mentioned characteristics. Moreover, this alloy is also suitable for use as material for various other parts, etc., required of corrosion resistance.
