PURPOSE:To prevent undulation from developing by a method wherein intermediate material, which is the same in material as sheet-shaped blank, is additionally inserted between the sheet-shaped blanks so as to obtain the thickness necessary at the portion corresponding to the thick-walled portion and then compression- molded together with the blanks. CONSTITUTION:Sheet molding compound (SMC) 2 is cut off in a form corresponding to the form of a structure to be obtained. The necessary number of the compounds are charged on a bottom force 1. Intermediate material 8, which is the same in materials as SMC 2, is additionally inserted between said SMCs 2 at the portion A corresponding to the thick-walled portion so as to make the total thickness equal to the thickness corresponding to that of the thick-walled portion to be obtained. When the compression molding is performed by lowering a top force 3 after the charging of the blank material, the thickness of the charged blank material is equal to the thickness corresponding to the thicknesses of the respective portions of the structure and no local excess and deficiency of material exist and consequently the structure with no undulation in the orientation of reinforcing fibers 6 can be obtained. |
