PURPOSE:To uniform flash light intensity over the entire hemispherical direction and to obtain a small-sized, lightweight, and long-life device by providing a means which uniforms the intensity of flash light projected from the center of lighting of a flash discharge lamp to over the entire hemispherical area. CONSTITUTION:A push-button switch 32 is depressed from above a water proof cover 33 to turn on an electric circuit for flash lighting and then a high voltage generated by a high voltage generation part is applied to both electrodes 28 and 29 of a flash light discharge lamp 26 and a timing signal voltage generated by a timing signal voltage generation part is applied to a trigger electrode 27 respectively, so that the flash discharge lamp 26 is discharged to emit light intermittently (e.g., 60 times per minute). At this time, the center 25 of lighting is at a higher position than both electrodes 28 and 29, so flash light projected from the center 25 of lighting to over the entire hemispherical are above a horizontal plane 34 passing the center 36 of lighting is cut off by the electrodes 28 and 29, so that the intensity of the flash light becomes nearly uniform.
