PURPOSE:To simplify the preparation of an index for retrieval and the operation of the index, by accumulating a sorting table and an attribute table which have been prepared in advance, in the form of a picture, and indicating a desired item with a light pen at the time of retrieval. CONSTITUTION:When an index preparation mode is indicated from a keyboard 2, a control device 3 sends an index preparation code to an address control device 5. The device 5 receives it, decodes the code, sends the first address of an attribute to a picture storage device 6, sets the device 6 to a reproducing mode, reproduces the first address of the attribute table in a 1 frame memory 4, and displays 7 it. Subsequently, when one item is indicated with a light pen 10, its co-ordinates are code-converted 20, and are recorded in an address of an area assigned to every picture of an index table 21. In this way, a code generated with the pen 10 can be stored in the device 6 as a part of the index information. |
