PURPOSE:To exactly detect the descending condition of the charge in a blast furnace with simple constitution by providing plural temp. detectors spaced in the axial central direction or circumferential direction from each other to the wall in the upper part of the shaft part or throat part of the blast furnace and detecting the fluctuation in the results of the temp. measurement. CONSTITUTION:The temp. detectors 5 spaced in the axial center (vertical direction of the figure) of the blast furnace 1 are provided to the wall 3 forming the outside wall near ore receiving hardware 2 of the blast furnace 1 through the wall 3. The top ends of the detectors 5 extend near to the inside wall 2a of the hardware 2 and are not required to be penetrated to the inside of the wall 2a. The temps. of the charge 7 charged into the blast furnace 1 are transmitted to the wall 2a and the temps. in the respective parts are measured by the detectors 5. A correlation is admitted between the temp. of the hardware 2 and the charging level and therefore, the results of the fluctuation in the measured temps. of the respective detectors 5 are plotted by which the descending condition of the charge 7 is exactly estimated.
