PURPOSE:To display even a space between pages serving as control units and to minimize the file capacity by synthesizing internally the maps adjacent to each other and using a display window that moves freely within the synthesized map. CONSTITUTION:A display memory 1 has an area large enough for a control unit 2 and the adjacent information 5 are internally retrieved and synthesized to the retrieved and displayed information 3. A display window 4 is moved freely within a synthetic map of both pieces of information 3 and 5 and synthesizes maps successively on a sufficiently large memory 1. Thus all maps can be displayed as if they were equal to just a single map. This eliminates the need to produce a map overlapping pages and therefore can minimize the file capacity.
