PURPOSE:To attain the optimum KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese characters) converting system by carrying out the analysis of a KANA/KANJI converter in the prescribed direction at all times to the input of homonyms and the same Japanese rendering and then replacing the memory contents when the coincidence is secured between the learning contents of the correct description corrected once and the memory contents. CONSTITUTION:A candidate extracting part 2 consists of a candidate extraction control part 6, a candidate word string memory part 7, a dictionary retrieving part 8 and a conversion dictionary memory part 9. When a KANA character string signal is inputted to the part 6, the part 6 retrieves the part 9 through the head of the part 6 via the part 8 and extracts all conversion candidates corresponding to the Japanese rendering. In case no conversion candidate is available at all, the part 8 informs this fact to the part 6. Then the candidate word strings are stored in the part 7.
