The ventilation system is for a heat-insulated steep roof covered by tiles, there being ridge tiles fitting over the topmost ones. A lower strip of material is stretched taut between tiles and insulating material and interrupted at the ridge. Above and clear of this strip material (5) is a waterproof ridge strip (8) covering the gap and the adjacent edges, and the edges (13) of the ridge tiles (12) are held clear of the tiles below (11). The lower strip material can be laid under slats (4) to which the ridge strip is secured. ADVANTAGE - Simplicity and low cost.
