PURPOSE:To prevent vanishment of a display, by determining whether the operation time of a switch is longer or shorter than a reference time when the operation stopping function of the switch is performed to activate the operation stopping function when it is shorter than the reference time. CONSTITUTION:The temperature corresponding a body heat is converted into an electrical signal (analog value) with a temperature sensor 6, done into a digital value with an A/D converter 7 to be taken into a CPU8 and stored into a memory 9 as measured temperature data. The CPU8 updates and holds the maximum value of the temperature detected by the temperature sensor 6 at each sampling time of 1sec, for instance, and shows the max. temperature on a display unit 4. Moreover, this apparatus has a function of counting the time from the start to the stop of the operation, a function of determining whether the operation time counted is larger than a specified reference time or not and a function of stopping a measuring operation when the operation time is less than the reference time in relation to the operation for the operation stop function of a power source switch 5.
