The invention discloses an apparatus for breaking up a pipeline laid in the earth and for drawing in a new pipeline by means of a fragmenting rocket, the front end of which is connected to a traction cable by means of a connection rod which is fastened in an articulated manner. A releasable connecting element is located between the connection rod and the front end of the rocket. Between the traction cable and the connection rod there is arranged a connecting element which permits a rotation about the axis of the connection rod.
