In a steel liner for a vessel which is subjected to internal pressure in normal operation, in particular for a prestressed concrete pressure vessel of a high temperature reactor (HTR), consisting of a steel sheet cylinder which is gastight on all sides, is assembled from flat and curved sheet parts (1, 2), is provided with connecting tubes (16) and is attached by means of anchoring elements (9) in a surrounding pressure member (10), it being the case that the sheet parts are welded to one another in each case via a connecting element at the edges of the sheet steel cylinder, it is provided according to the invention that the connecting element is a circularly cylindrical tube (3) extending longitudinally relative to the edge. In the case of a steel liner in which the connecting tubes (16) with the sheet parts are likewise welded to one another via a connecting element in each case, it is preferably further provided that use is also made as connecting element of a circularly cylindrical tube (13) extending longitudinally relative to the edge. <IMAGE>
