PURPOSE:To improve the development effect by providing the first driving source for driving a fan for cooling an optical system, and a developing device, and the second driving source for driving a fixing device and an image carrier, and rotating the image carrier in reverse by a prescribed quantity after an image is formed. CONSTITUTION:A cooling fan 69 is rotated by the operation of the first motor 77, and an optical system is cooled. In case of executing a color development by using a developing device 54, a photosensitive drum 52 is rotated at low speed by decreasing the rotational speed of the first driving motor 77, a sufficient light quantity is obtained, and also it can correspond to the characteristic of a toner for a color. After the image is formed, the photosensitive drum 52 is rotated in reverse by the prescribed quantity by the second driving motor 85, and when the next image is formed, a cleaning blade is made to abut on the upstream side of a residual toner of the photosensitive drum 52. Accordingly, the residual toner can be removed exactly, and the residual toner does not form a black stripe. In this way, the development can be executed satisfactorily.
