A regenerative process for exhaust gas purification and an apparatus assigned for this are created, in particular for removing nitrogen oxides by means of reversible absorption-desorption. A three-component mixture is used, comprising a hydrocarbon mixture, an organophosphorous compound and a divalent copper compound and/or divalent iron compound. The subject matter of the invention is distinguished by an improved efficiency of NO separation and generally improved economic efficiency compared with the prior art.
